Our Core Values As members of the
Seventh-day Adventist world church organization, our “core values” are
an essential non-negotiable commitment to being who we are as the Body of
Christ. These are the fundamental principles and values upon which we base our
decisions, methods and actions. The following values represent the heart of an
effective ministry at LifeSource Community Church: (Links to Bible texts
will open in a new browser window.)
- EVANGELISM - We believe that lost
people matter to God and therefore ought to matter to us. By establishing
a growing community of Seventh-day Adventist believers, we believe the unsaved
and unchurched in the Coeur d'Alene area, regardless of their background, must
be invited to discover the deep and powerful love of God through a trusting
and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. (Malachi
1:11,
Matthew 28:19-20,
Luke 19:10,
Revelation 14:6)
- COMMUNITY - We believe in becoming a
loving, effective, proactive, relationship-based community. Our
fellowship is developed largely through church members building positive
relationships with unbelievers and the unchurched throughout the community as
well as with one another. We believe that spiritually healthy families are the
foundation for a vibrant community. We favor children and the emerging
generation of youth. (Psalm
149:1,
Matthew 19:14-15,
John 10:16,
1 Peter 2:5)
- DISCIPLESHIP - We believe that
belonging to a functioning and healthy small group ministry is essential to
developing "mature" disciples. The discipline and joy of belonging
stimulates the growth required for Christian maturity beyond mere adherence to
doctrine. Team leadership models will the effectiveness of mature
discipleship. (Matthew
28:19-20,
Acts 2:42-47,
Acts 4:4,
Hebrews 5:13-14)
- PRAYER - We believe that we can do
nothing without Christ and our full dependence on God. All successful
ministries are birthed and bathed in prayer. This ministry includes prayer
for our church and community leadership, families, internal ministry teams,
and mission outreach projects. (Matthew
7:7,
Luke 18:1,
Ephesians 6:18,
1 Thessalonians 5:17,
Romans 8:26-27,
Revelation 5:8)
- UNCONDITIONAL LOVE - We believe that
every individual in every circumstance needs and deserves our respect,
kindness and a demonstration of the love described in 1 Corinthians 13.
We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church
life because life change happens best in relationships. (Deuteronomy
10:19,
Psalm 31:23,
John 3:16,
John 13:35,
Romans 5:8,
1 John 3:1)
- EXCELLENCE - We believe that God's
character and creativity reflects his eye for excellence. As His "image
bearers" we glorify God through well-planned and well-presented ministries.
From small groups to community outreach to office management to our weekly
Sabbath worship services, we focus on reflecting the highest qualities of
God's character to all whom we serve in His name. (Deuteronomy
32:4,
Psalm 18:30,
John 1:14,
2 Corinthians 5:21,
Hebrews 7:26)
- SERVICE - We believe that by following
Christ's example we look for opportunities to serve and minister to others.
Jesus always put His Father's will and the needs of others before His own
needs or desires. By developing an attitude of "servant leadership" we model
the attitude of Jesus Christ in the midst of those who are learning to know
Him personally. Every member is expected to be involved in and committed to a
meaningful ministry which utilizes their "shape" and passion for effectively
serving the Lord. (Deuteronomy
11:13,
Psalm 100:2,
Matthew 20:28,
Galatians 5:13,
Revelation 2:19)
- STEWARDSHIP -
We believe that
God's example of providing for a lost world and giving all He has to us in
Christ is the ultimate model of sacrificial stewardship. Jesus
taught that everything good comes from God and that his followers were to be
good managers of all the material possessions and personal gifts and talents
provided them by God the Father. These resources are to be used by
committed Christ followers to further the work of establishing and promoting
His Kingdom. (Luke 21:1-4, 2
Corinthians 8:7-8, Malachi 3:8, Matthew 25:14-28)
